StageMilk Original Scripts Database

Since 2021, StageMilk has been developing original scripts for actors to use—totally free of charge. We understand how difficult it can be to find scripts on the internet that aren’t locked behind a paywall, or ripped from Netflix and riddled with spelling errors. And so we set about writing

This page contains a list of every free, original script developed by StageMilk for its global acting community. There are scenes for screen and stage, monologues and material for younger performers as well. These scripts are perfect for acting classes, scene study, audition pieces and showreel material.

Each of the pages these scripts feature on are updated regularly with new material. So feel free to bookmark this page and check it for fresh content each month!

A Quick Note from the Writer

Hello! My name is Alexander Lee-Rekers; I’m a professional playwright and screenwriter, as well as the author of the scripts on this page. I hereby give you permission to use these scenes for personal practice, as well as showreels and auditions. All I ask is that you credit my work and StageMilk for providing them—especially if you post it on social media. (If you’re feeling brave, you can tag me via @alexnobodyfamous so I can see what you do with it!) None of these scenes are to be recorded, filmed, staged, re-written, developed or adapted for professional purposes. Other than that, go for it!

How to Use This Page

Listed below are the collected original scripts from our individual pages. The sub-headings will link you to that specific page—each of which contain a comprehensive breakdown of each script including performance notes, a synopsis and (where applicable) a recommended age rating.

While there is occasionally a note regarding the age or gender of a character, we heartily encourage you to look past this and see what kind of character or narrative you’re most drawn to. Don’t let yourself be limited, especially when your goal is to push yourself and see what you can do with a script you’ve never seen!

Practice Scripts for Actors

These scripts are from our very first collection. They are perfect material for drama classes and scene study. As as they are a little longer and more involved than others on this page, we would recommend performing some script analysis to mine them for meaning and to establish your given circumstances. However, they are also written with some ambiguity in mind, so that actors have the chance to forge their own interpretation of the text. We have also had actors utilise these scripts for short films—they make perfect studies for aspiring filmmakers and directors to cut their teeth.

Scripts in a screenplay format are marked with an (S).

Short Scripts for Actors

This collection consists of shorter original scripts, each running to approximately a minute in length. They are perfect for acting classes, independent study as well as showreel material. As they are short on content and context, spend some time establishing the given circumstances and ‘moment before’ of each scene with your scene partner.

Practice Monologues for Actors

Our first collection of monologues draw from a range of characters and situations, and vary in length between 2 – 5 minutes. These are ideal scripts for audition pieces and self-tape practice, offering a great degree of freedom regarding character and casting.

Short Monologues for Actors

These shorter monologues began as offerings for our StageMilk Scene Club members, looking for small, manageable pieces that could be confidently analysed, learned and performed in just a few hours. They serve as terrific studies for any actor struggling with time constraints or skirting burnout.

These scripts also feature performance notes at the bottom of the page, which offer directorial and analytical notes and ideas for actors to explore in their interpretation.

Scenes for Three Actors

These original scripts feature three actors, and are designed for use in larger acting classes or independent scene study.
