A fun addition to any board game collection and a phenomenal addition to any Magic collection.

Perhaps it is the rating on value for cards that has affected the community score on this game, however the inclusions and value for money with the long time enjoyment of the Planechase system is severely overlooked. It becomes somewhat tiresome to play 1 v 1 Magic, even if owning a variety of Decks for your chosen format. The twist of Planechase is that is it is at essence a keyword alteration mechanic locked in to any era of Magic cards. Lands may be worth infinite amounts, or nothing, all based on the Plane that you all play at which can change at whim at the roll of the dice of the player in control.

The box is luxurious gigantic ridiculous size of the opulent era of Wizards of the Coast. The Dice are high quality and of course it comes with decks of it's era, but all of that is not really the point. It is the experience of the Planechase deck that is really the selling point.

As theme has become less important for Magic players on the whole as years have progressed the references to lands and other cards in Planechase may be lost on some newer players. However the mechanical upset, particularly for a Commander group, makes this game a great go to for casual kitchen tables or even at the LGS.

On the other front, as a new Magic player who would buy a single product and not return to another again, only the UnSanctioned box and Archenemy comes close in the longevity of this game. In that regard alone I highly recommend this sadly long sold-out game for any player.
