Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell course-corrected after their last, entirely too corporate-tinged red carpet appearance. For the New York screening of their film You’re Cordially Invited, they ditched the business suits and dressed up like mom and dad on date night.
This is entirely appropriate. Will is the king of knowing your lane and sticking to it. He’s a professional, so he knows that he’s supposed to be presentable at these events, but he’s also savvy about his public image, which means trendy, serious, or cutting edge fashion would look silly on him. He sticks to Dad Style and it works for him. She opted to get a little sassy this time. She’s still sticking with black suits, but this one has big ruffles. We’re not always big fans of big ruffles, but they’re the only thing here that lends her outfit a little bit of visual interest. Still, we have to admit, the one on the jacket looks really dumb.
