The Stack Climbing & Fitness is Slated to Open Fall of 2025
Chico, CA, January 20, 2025 – Meriam Park Community and MP Climbing, LLC today announced they have launched the development of a premier rock climbing and fitness center – The Stack Climbing and Fitness – in the heart of bustling Meriam Park in Chico. Site construction has begun, and they are targeting a Fall 2025 opening. Memberships will be offered beginning in the Summer of 2024.
The custom-built 17,000 square foot facility will offer over 10,000 square feet of climbing wall area, including bouldering and 45’ high rope climbing routes, a climber training area, a youth climbing and activity area, a fitness area with a variety of cardio and muscle development options, full men’s and women’s locker room areas, meeting and lounge areas, a retail area serving climbers’ equipment needs, and a broad array of training and other classes.
The project’s development is led by Carlo Traversi, one of the world’s premier rock climbers, route setters, and climbing gym operators for the past twenty years, and co-founder and co- owner of The Boulder Field in Sacramento, CA. The Boulder Field is a 33,000 square foot facility and was recently named by an industry publication as the second-best bouldering gym in the U.S.
Carlo said, “We are thrilled to announce this exciting gym project. We have been interested in bringing a world-class facility to Chico for a long time. We recently met Dan Gonzales, developer of the phenomenal Meriam Park Community and he expressed his desire to anchor the community with a state-of-the-art rock climbing and fitness facility. Of course, we were immediately excited by the prospect.”
Carlo, a native of Sonoma County and current resident of Sacramento, added, “With The Stack, we look forward to delivering among the best user experiences to climbers and their families in Chico and surrounding areas. I have literally grown up in climbing gyms, and have a clear vision of the ideal gym environment sought by climbers of all ages and experience levels. We’ll be offering an array of both rope climbing and bouldering, as well as premier training opportunities. And, of course, understanding the diverse needs of climbers and their families, we’ll be providing full fitness and youth facilities for our members as well. In coming months, as we launch our social media programs, we’ll be disclosing more details of this exciting project.”
David Traversi, Carlo’s partner in this Meriam Park project and The Boulder Field, is an alumnus of California State University, Chico (1981) and veteran of many business ventures. He said, “I have loved Chico since the first day I set foot on the campus in the late 1970s. Some of my fondest memories are here. Dan has developed a wonderful community here, and we are so happy to bring the vision of The Stack to fruition.”
Dan Gonzales noted, “We reserved a site in the heart of our Meriam Park Community for a facility just like The Stack.
