Islanders’ Dobson week-to-week with lower-body injury

The New York Islanders will have to try to get back in the wild-card race without one of their most important defencemen.

The team said on Thursday that Noah Dobson has a lower-body injury and is week-to-week, per Stefan Rosner of NHL.com.

Dobson was hurt Monday night in a collision along the boards with Columbus Blue Jackets forward Cole Sillinger, and his right leg seemed to bend at an awkward angle.

The 25-year-old is coming off a career-high 70-point season and while he hasn’t matched that production this year, he has still been an important player for the Islanders. Dobson has six goals and 24 points in 46 games this season and leads the Islanders with 24:12 ice time per game.

New York sits seven points out of a wild-card spot.
