Capcom announced the imminent shutdown of Resident Evil ReVerse, a multiplayer component launched alongside Resident Evil Village, which has struggled to resonate with players. Despite initial expectations, the game showed lackluster performance and will be taken offline across all platforms, including PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and Steam. The game’s downloadable content will also be removed on March 3, but players with the game installed can still enjoy it until June 29. According to Capcom’s blog post, while Resident Evil ReVerse initially celebrated the franchise's 25th anniversary with overwhelming community support, it ultimately reached a turning point where it is no longer needed. The decision reflects Capcom’s ongoing effort to refine the Resident Evil multiplayer experience, which has yet to find its footing in over two decades. Players are encouraged to make the most of their remaining time with the game before servers are decommissioned, particularly as rumors swirl about new franchise developments on the horizon.
